La historia:
A partir de los restantes de la disolución de una banda de Black Metal llamada Demoniac, (banda que se disolvió a finales de 1999, poco después de lanzar su último disco, The Fire and the Wind) y de otras agrupaciones, tomaron en un principio el nombre de "DragonHeart" en el 1999, que tuvieron que cambiar posteriormente debido a la existencia de de una banda brasileña llamada de la misma manera y que también tocaba Power Metal formada en el año de 1997.
Todos los miembros de la banda excepto el cantante (Dawson) formaron Dragonheart, que después cambiaría su nombre a Dragonforce. Dawson colaboraría con Dragonforce en una canción de su tercer disco, Inhuman Rampage.
Bajo el nombre de DragonHeart sólo sacaron un Demo llamado Valley of the Damned que un tiempo después, ya bajo el nombre de Dragonforce, sacaron como disco completo. Este demo fue publicado en una página de Internet donde se convirtieron en éxito rotundo captando la atención inmediata de Noise Records. A "Valley of The Damned" (considerado por muchos como su mejor trabajo) le siguieron "Sonic FireStorm" (2004) "Inhuman Rampage"(2006) y "Ultra BeatDown" (2008)
Han tocado en compañía de bandas como Distorsión, a quienes les cancelaron en su gira 2006 en Finlandia, donde fueron teloneros de Stratovarius junto con Metal Church, por acusaciones de satanismo. Esto mismo les sucedió a DragonForce en Italia. La organizacíon del festival quedó en ridículo cuando se comprobó el trasfondo bíblico de muchas canciones; por ejemplo "Lost Souls In The Endless Time", del album "Inhuman Rampage". Es posible que el error se debiera por la asociación de DragonForce con Demoniac, grupo paralelo bastante más oscuro y enrevesado en el que tocaron algunos miembros de DragonForce: Herman Li y Sam Totman.
DragonForce se diferencia de las otras bandas de Power Metal por la velocidad de sus temas, sus solos rápidos, la influencia de los sonidos del teclado (semejantes a los videojuegos antiguos),el uso del blast beat en la batería y estribillos extremádamente melódicos, lo que le da un sello inconfundible a esta banda. La mayor parte de sus letras repiten temas de carácter épico y optimista, con un amplio significado de combate, unidad y fuerza vital.
Con una agenda de giras imparable y constante, Dragonforce ha demostrado ser una banda consagrada al metal, cosa que es muy favorable para ellos ya que prometen algo nuevo y contemporáneo. Su penúltimo disco, Inhuman Rampage, obtuvo muy buen recibimiento por sus seguidores y en marzo de 2007 se publicó la edición especial de este disco con un dvd. El sencillo "Through the Fire and Flames" aparece en el videojuego Guitar Hero III como un tema jugable (el ultimo, desbloqueable después de pasarse el juego completo), quizá el más difícil y largo de la serie entera de Guitar Hero. Curiosamente la aparición del tema en el juego musical, incremento de forma considerable la ya gran popularidad de la banda. Algunos críticos dicen que "la mayoría de las bandas quieren ser más grandes que Metallica, no obstante, DragonForce podría ser más grande que cualquiera".
Su disco mas reciente es Ultra Beatdown, no supone un cambio muy grande con respecto a Inhuman Rampage, pero es radicalmente diferente a todos sus trabajos anteriores, con letras más significativas,música más frenética y guitarras realmente endiabladas. "Ultra Beatdown" es mucho más progresivo musicalmente con canciones notables, destacando especialmente el bonus track "Strike of the Ninja", el hit "Heroes of Our Time" o la luminosa "Reasons to Survive".

ZP "Zippy" Theart ,nacido el 22 de enero de 1975 en Clanwilliam.Theart se incorporó a la banda después de que sus compañeros Herman Li y Sam Totman viesen su anuncio en la revista Metal Hammer. Li dijo que "Es el unico tipo que puede cantar lo que dice que va a cantar". También toca la guitarra acústica.
Herman Li:
Herman Li (nació el 12 de marzo , 1976 en Hong Kong) es el guitarrista y corista en la banda.Comenzó a tocar la guitarra eléctrica en Noviembre de 1992 a los 16 años, aprendiendola a tocar el solo (INCREIBLE).
Sam Totman:
Nació el 8 de Agosto de 1974, en Hertfordshire, Inglaterra, es guitarrista y compositor.Destaca su estancia en la banda Neozelandesa Demoniac (1993 - 1999) En ella, Sam Totman adoptaba el sobrenombre de Heimdall, Dios Nórdico de la luz, y a la cual se unió en 1998 su todavia compañero Herman Li. Aun contando con estos dos guitarristas de lujo.
Vadim Pruzhanov:
Nació el día 18 de Junio del 1982 en Ukcraina, es el "Tecladista" ( me mate buscando, pero no encontre mas informacion sobre el, solamente que tiene el pelo largo xD)
Dave Mackintosh:
Dave "Compact Dynamo" Mackintosh nacido el 15 de septiembre de 1977 en Glasgow, Escocia. Es el baterista y corista acompañante de la banda."Dave es la mejor opción que tenemos en Dragonforce por su excelente calidad y sus recursos, como los blast beats" declaro el cantante y el guitarrista Herman Li.
Frédéric Leclercq:
Frédéric Leclercq nacio el 28 junio 1978 en Francia. Bajista y , debes en cuando, acompañante de corista. Destacado por su paso en el grupo frances Heavenly.
